Max Blue is a journalist and cultural critic whose work engages visual art through the lens of politics, social justice and community preservation.

He has written for BOMB, Cultured Magazine and Hyperallergic, among other internationally recognized publications, and he is the art critic for the San Francisco Examiner.

His Pushcart Prize-nominated short fiction has appeared in The MacGuffin, Mount Hope Magazine and North Dakota Quarterly, among many others.

He studied art history and photography at the San Francisco Art Institute and received an MFA in fiction from the University of San Francisco.

He is currently writing his first novel.
